Zombie Yoga
The Game
"Zombie Yoga" is a single-player Xbox Kinect game, in which the player unleases his/her "inner light" by doing a number of limited (but powerful!) Yoga poses!
The Game is metaphorical in nature and aimed at empowering the players.
Each level has a different main character, and is based on a specific Psychological issue (e.g. socio-phobia; inner child neglect).
Zombies represent our inner fears, and the narrative architecture of the game-world reflects those emotional wounds everyone holds, to one degree or another.
This game is aimed at Karen and Bob, and those like them. Karen is a dynamic woman who has been practicing yoga as a hobby and is interested in understanding her psyche.
She is not opposed to the idea of gaming, but is far from a hardcore gamer. She likes the idea of gestural interfaces because they are accessible; she has even been playing the occasional exercise game on her Xbox Kinect!
Bob, on the other hand, is a gamer. He sees games as a medium capable of expressing complex ideas. He enjoys action adventure and horror survival genres, but remains curious about a wide range of games. He has never done yoga before, and is willing to give it a shot.
The Team
We are Lab 707, the team behind "Zombie Yoga".
We are a colorful group of dedicated, hard working game enthusiasts with passion for technological and conceptual challenge - and a love for zombies and yoga!
Driven by the desire to make games that matter, we put our very best into making our games have a positive impact on the players by exploring unusual game concepts and resonating it with emotional truth.
Our enthusiasm seems to be contagious (like a Zombie virus!); we received a University grant for development during this summer (thank you, DePaul!) and support from Microsoft in the form of Windows Kinect sensors (thank you Microsoft!).
Despite various hurdle and time constraints, we believe we can out-yoga all the odds and make a Kinect game that changes people's perceptions of what this new medium and technology is capable of!
